Cold Room Manufacturer in Pune
Cold rooms for Pune businesses
A cold room is a walk-in insulated store that keeps perishable goods at a fixed temperature. That is usually +2 to +8 °C for chilled goods or −18 to −25 °C for frozen goods. Pune dairies, pharma units, kitchens and produce traders use them for bulk storage. Falcon Refrigeration designs, makes and installs cold rooms in Pune and across Maharashtra.

Our unit is at Shivne, on NDA Road. From here our engineers can reach most sites in Pune city and Pune district.
This page covers what Pune businesses store, how local conditions affect the design, and the choices you will need to make.
What Pune businesses store
Each trade in and around Pune needs a different set point and humidity. The table gives general storage conditions. Always check your product supplier's guidance as well.
| Application | Typical temperature | Typical humidity |
|---|---|---|
| Milk, curd, paneer, butter | +2 to +4 °C | Not critical if packed |
| Medicines and vaccines | +2 to +8 °C | As per product label |
| Restaurant chiller | +2 to +5 °C | Not critical |
| Frozen food and ice cream stock | −18 to −25 °C | Not critical |
| Grapes | −1 to 0 °C | 90–95% RH |
| Pomegranate | +5 to +7 °C | 90–95% RH |
| Onions | 0 to +2 °C | 65–70% RH |
| Cut roses | +1 to +2 °C | 90–95% RH |
Dairy around Pune
Pune district has many milk collection and chilling centres, from Junnar to Baramati. These rooms take warm crates several times a day.
We size the system for that pull-down load, not just for holding temperature. A plastic strip curtain on the door helps during loading.
Pharma and life sciences
Pune has pharma and biotech units in areas such as Hinjewadi, Bhosari and Kurkumbh. Their stores usually run at +2 to +8 °C. They need even air flow, calibrated sensors, a data logger and alarms.
We can place the sensors to suit your temperature mapping study.
For storage at −40 °C or colder, see our ultra-low temperature cold room page.
Restaurants, hotels and cloud kitchens
City kitchens often have little floor space and narrow access. A common layout is a walk-in chiller and a walk-in freezer sharing one wall. Panels are cut so they fit through the stairs or lift on site.
Food processing in MIDC areas
Plants in Chakan, Talegaon, Ranjangaon and similar MIDC areas store raw material and finished goods. Many also freeze product before storing it. A blast freezer brings the product core to −18 °C quickly, and the cold store then holds it there.
Fruit, vegetables and flowers
Farmers and traders around Pune grow grapes, pomegranates, onions and vegetables. The floriculture belt near Talegaon and Maval ships cut flowers.
These rooms need humidity control, because dry air makes produce lose weight. For bananas and mangoes, a ripening chamber controls ethylene and temperature.
Designing for Pune's climate and sites
Local conditions change the design. These are the points we check on every Pune project.
Summer heat
Pune often reaches around 40 °C in April and May. Terraces and tin sheds get hotter still. We select the condensing unit for that peak, not for an average day.
It needs shade and free air flow, so it does not pull in its own hot exhaust air.
Monsoon humidity
From June to September the outside air is very humid. Moist air that leaks in turns to frost on the evaporator coil.
We seal panel joints carefully and fit good door gaskets. Freezer doors get a heated frame so the gasket does not freeze shut.
Power cuts
Short power cuts are common in some areas. The controller restarts the system on its own when power returns, with a delay to protect the compressor. If you run a generator, we tell you the starting load to plan for.
Space and access
Many Pune sites are basements, upper floors or existing sheds. Modular panels can be carried in and assembled inside. We check floor strength, ceiling height and the route for refrigerant piping.
Choosing your setup
A few decisions shape the price and running cost. We go through them with you before we quote.
Plug-in or split system
A plug-in (monoblock) unit mounts on the wall or roof of the room. It is quick to fit and suits small rooms.
A split system puts the condensing unit outside and the evaporator inside. It is quieter in the room and suits larger loads.
Panel thickness
Chillers and freezers need different insulation. We build walls from sandwich PUF panels and choose the thickness from the heat load. For a full guide to temperature classes and panel sizes, see our page on cold rooms across Maharashtra.
Door type
Hinged doors suit most small and medium rooms. Sliding doors save space and suit pallet trucks.
Our cold room doors have full gaskets. Freezer doors add a heated frame, and an inside safety release can be fitted.
Racking and layout
Tell us whether you store crates, cartons or pallets. That sets the room height, aisle width and door size. Leave space for air to flow around the stock, or some areas will run warm.
Service and maintenance in Pune
A well-kept room uses less power and lasts longer. Our annual maintenance contract (AMC) includes planned visits for cleaning, checks and settings.
Before summer, we clean the condenser coil and check fan motors. We also check door gaskets, drain lines, refrigerant pressures and defrost timing. If your power bill has crept up, a refrigeration energy audit measures where the energy goes.
Frequently asked questions
Do you visit sites outside Pune city?
Yes. We visit sites across Pune district, including Chakan, Talegaon, Ranjangaon, Baramati and Junnar. We also work across Maharashtra. During the visit we measure the space, check power and access, and discuss your product and daily load. This lets us prepare an accurate specification.
What temperature should a dairy cold room run at?
Packed milk, curd and paneer are usually stored at +2 to +4 °C. The room must also pull warm crates down quickly after each delivery. We size the refrigeration for the number of crates and their arrival temperature. A strip curtain on the door reduces warm air entry during loading.
Can one room store both chilled and frozen goods?
No, each room holds one temperature. The usual answer is two rooms side by side, a chiller and a freezer. They share one wall and can share some panels, which saves space and cost. Each room has its own evaporator, controller and alarm.
Will the room keep working during a power cut?
A well-insulated room holds its temperature for some time if the door stays shut. The controller restarts the system automatically when power returns. For long outages, a generator keeps the system running. Temperature alarms warn you if the room starts to warm up.
